South East Asian Food
Coming from Perth, Western Australia where there are lots of good Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Vietnamese restaurants to go to, we found it's a very different situation in Japan. These kind of places are very rare here. Even the Chinese food in Japan is not that authentic in most restaurants. So we were glad to find a little store in the food court of Nishinomiya Garden's (a huge shopping mall about half way between Osaka and Kobe) that served up some pretty authentic tasting Thai and Malaysian dishes. The easiest good foreign food to find in Japan is Indian. If you want to find good Chinese food in Japan then Kobe or Yokohama are good places to for it. Kobe also has some good Italian and French restaurants, but those are not too hard to find in most big cities in Japan.
