Your Bio

I created Jamri Photography to showcase some of my finest photos. The name is formed from using the first three letters of my name and the first two letters from my wife's name.

I've been into Photography since a very young age thanks to my fathers influence. When I turned 22 I purchased a little Canon Prima AF-7 (film) camera to document my travels.

Now-a-days my two main cameras are a Nikon F80 (film) and a Nikon D80 (digital) SLRs with a number of Nikkor and Sigma lenses. My carry everywhere snap shot camera is a Casio EX-Z850. Many of the photos on this site were taken with a Nikon D50, which I sold in May 2008. Some of the older (pre 2006) photos were taken with a Sanyo VPC-AZ1 which has now been passed to one of my sisters. Occasionally I still use my little Canon Prima AF-7 (film) camera just for fun!

Best Regards,

James L Clarke

My New Life : On the 7th of November 2008, My wife and I left Perth (which had been my home for 35 years) for Japan on a one way ticket (I do intend to return to Perth for Holidays sometimes). We responded to God's calling to be missionaries to Japan. We are not associated with any Missionary Society. We went to Japan as tent makers, our original intention had been to work as English teachers and serve in an established church here as members. However, after two months here after many trials and tribulations, God enabled us to plant Shining Lights Church together with two other families. We are now Pastoring this church as well as working as English teachers running our own English school and I'm also working Part Time teaching English at a Kindergarten.
This gallery is mostly for friends and family to see our progress, but anyone is welcome to drop us as a comment and join us on this journey.
The Newest Photos will appear at the beginning of the gallery.
The English versions of our books Eternity and Back to Japan can now be ordered online from Koorong Books
If you like this please consider purchasing prints, gifts, or stock of these or any my other photos on this site, any money we can earn from these photos helps free up our time to concentrate on our mission work. Thank you.

Mamiya RB67 Sample Photos : My friend's uncle kindly gave me his approximately 30 years old Mamiya RB67 Camera. This is a medium format camera the negative size is 68mm x 56mm. For some reason my local photo developer only scans them at 5MP, yet scans 35mm negatives at 6MP. I would think I given the surface area of the negative is 4x bigger than a 35mm negative I should be able to get 24MP. I live in Japan and unfortunately my Japanese is not that good to ask them why. I just say "Genzou toh Shi-Di Kudasai" (develop and scan please). These are just a few samples for those interested, I'm still very much learning how to use this tool.

It is reasonably expensive developing these films (126yen per shot). I want to give a big thank you to all the people who have donated films and other equipment to make this possible. どもありがとございます。 Another way to help keep this going is by purchasing prints.
